Simphiwe is currently reading for a Doctorate (DPhil) in Geography and the Environment at the University of Oxford. Previously, Laura spent four years conducting climate and environmental justice research at the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s Headquarter Office of Science Policy in Washington D.C.

Laura’s experience in the government and non-profit sector is associated with organizations including the United Nations Environment Program and The Henry M Jackson Foundation. She is co-founding Director of Swaziland’s only public interest environmental law firm, the Environmental Law Assistance Centre.

Laura is also producer of ‘Our Story: Climate Justice and Environmental Justice’ and has published various articles on climate change including ‘Four Cattle and a Farm: On Finding More Inclusive Solutions to Climate Change’ which was in collaboration with the Woodrow Wilson Centre Environmental Change and Security Program. Most importantly, she is mother to her bright and bubbly one year old, Judah.
