Chuks is Professor in Environment and Development in the Department of Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Reading. He is also Senior Academic Fellow at the Oxford University Centre of the Environment. Chuks is a globally recognized leading scholar in global governance of climate governance and low-carbon development in Africa. He has over 15 years of extremely high-level engagement with policy makers in Africa. As the Head of Climate and Development Centre at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, University of Oxford, he led the Rwandan National Strategy for Climate and Low Carbon Development initiative funded jointly by the Climate Development and Knowledge Network (CDKN) and DFID Rwanda. He was also leader of the African Adaptation Initiative project funded by the UNDP for the Committee of African Heads of State for Climate Change (CAHOSCC). He is currently Principal Investigator of the UK ERSC funded grant on ‘Governing Inclusive Green Economy in Africa which aims to build a genuine interdisciplinary and international collaborative Network that can develop a substantive and innovative research agenda on the governance of green growth in Africa.
